2012 Phenomenon
Introduction
The much anticipated year 2012 has finally arrived - the year in which the world as we know it is supposed to end. The 2012 Phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21. This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in Mesoamerican Long Date Calender; the Mayan calendar ends on December 21st, 2012.
Doomsday?
Some are referring to it as Doomsday and the literal end of the world as we know it - various scenarios are suggested for how this will come about including the arrival of the next solar maximum, or the Earth's collision with a black hole or passing asteroid. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date.
New Age/One-World agenda
Others are predicting a new spiritual awakening. Many assertions about the year 2012 form part of a non-codified collection of New Age beliefs about ancient Maya wisdom and spirituality. The New age interpretation of this transition is that this date marks the start of time in which Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation.
The count down to December 21st is on, with many one-world/new age events planned for this year - interfaith gatherings designed to bring the religions of the world together in order to facilitate a quantum leap into the 'New Spiritual Order.' New age globalists are intent on creating an occult world order.
Awakened World
In October, 300 spiritual leaders from many faiths and traditions will meet in Rome and then Florence, Italy to map out 'the evolution of religion and spirituality in the 21st century.' According to event literature, 'The work of the group will focus on training and empowering agents of change,' as our present age 'is now giving rise to a new global consciousness.'
A core group of influential people will guide the event including the Dalai Lama, Cardinals Jean-Louis Tauran and Walter Kasper, Barbara Marx-Hubbard and Deepak Chopra. The hosting organisations for this event are The International Interreligious Peace Council, the Association of Global New Thought and the Interreligious Engagement Project.
New Group of World Servers Festival
In December the New Group of World Servers will be sponsoring a worldwide occult meditation festival inspired by the Theosophist Alice Bailey. The Lucis Trust and World Goodwill are the organisations behind this festival. They hope that the occult meditations/activities occurring simultaneously throughout the world during that week will enable 'group fusion' to bring about global transformation. During this worldwide occult spectacle, a new 'birth of the world' is to be celebrated.
Birth 2012
Dubbed 'Birth 2012,' New age leader Barbara Marx-Hubbard is calling December 22nd a 'global birthday.' Other top New Age teachers are working with her, hoping that December 22nd will earmark a global evolutionary leap that will unite the world spiritually, socially and consciously. December 22nd has been designated the launch date for unveiling their new world order.
